Satan’s Puppets

16 04 2017

The chief priests, elders and scribes who conspired against Jesus and delivered Him to the Cross; the Roman soldiers who mocked, beat and nailed Him there; and, the citizens who demanded His crucifixion were all unwitting participants in an event that would affect mankind for eternity.  In spite of having been eyewitness to many of Jesus’ miraculous works, they defiantly refused to believe He was indeed the Messiah and the Son of God. Rather, they felt Jesus was a threat to their power and beliefs. But, during His short mortal life, Jesus made it clear He had come to save when He said, “For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him.” John 3:17. Jesus’ death was part of God’s plan of salvation.

Jesus also made clear the path to that eternal life when He said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life; no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” John 14:6.

Sadly, many today do not believe Jesus is the Son of God, nor do they appreciate what Jesus endured on that day on our behalf. Many are as blind and clueless as those who murdered Jesus and do not realize the harm they are causing or the destructive road they are following. University professors, the ultra-biased media, non-believing celebrities, corrupt politicians, and others who use their platform to spread their secular agenda, striving to remove all traces of Christianity from our lives, are unknowingly serving as pawns of Satan. It is one thing to espouse an opinion; but to openly, or subliminally, deliver evil is a fulfillment of Scripture and their followers will follow them to an eternal hell.

God’s plan hasn’t changed. Jesus will return, but not riding on a donkey as He had done on what we now know as Good Friday. Instead, He will be as a warrior returning to defeat Satan and all evil. Those who have not accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior will not be saved from damnation.

Because of His suffering, we now have been given the greatest gift possible-eternal life. It’s right there like an apple on a low-hanging branch. All we have to do is grab it. Confess your sins and accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior. It’s that simple. Unfortunately, many will continue to ignore His call.

Changing Times: A Precursor to Something Big!

16 03 2014

Before reading through this post, I want you to take just a moment and complete this exercise. I want you to think what word, or two, would you use to characterize society today? Permissive? Godless? Materialistic? Decaying?

It seems the magnetic lure of worldly pleasures, such as power, greed, sex, money, etc., has skewed our moral compass and set us off on the wrong path. Society, and what we deem socially and morally acceptable, has changed drastically over the past couple of generations.

The purpose of this post is neither to condemn nor condone activities. Its purpose is three-fold-1) to illustrate our slide toward Godlessness by our acceptance and tolerance of issues which were once considered unacceptable and intolerable. 2) It is to show how moral decline has been foreseen for thousands of years, and most importantly, 3) to show that the fulfillment of prophecy in Scripture, revealed through this decline, is leading up to one big-time event-the second coming of Christ.

Morals in Decline

I lifted the following statistics from an article in USA Today on February 26, 2014. The article, titled Talkin’ ‘bout my generations: Opinions on social issues shift, paints a picture of a changing society.

  • Same-sex marriage: 1996 Gallup poll 27% favor, 68% opposed. A 2013 USA Today poll showed 55% favor and 40% oppose;
  • Cohabitation: 1981 ABC News/Washington Post poll found 45% disapproved and 40% approved. A 2007 USA Today/Gallup poll found 55% approved and 27% disapproved.

In the article, sociologist Daniel Liether of Cornell University stated, “We’re entering a period of massive social change.” The article went on to say how baby boomers are dying off and will be replaced over the next 20-30 years by a younger, more permissive, society. In other words, the changes we are seeing will only get worse. I feel sorry for young parents raising children today.

Now, compare your earlier thoughts (assuming you followed directions) on society with what Paul wrote to his protégé, Timothy, two thousand years ago.

From 2 Timothy, chapter 3, verses 1-5: You should know this, Timothy, that in the last days there will be very difficult times. For people will love only themselves and their money. They will be boastful and proud, scoffing at God, disobedient to their parents, and ungrateful. They will consider nothing sacred. They will be unloving and unforgiving; they will slander others and have no self-control. They will be cruel and hate what is good. They will betray their friends, be reckless, be puffed up with pride, and love pleasure rather than God. They will act religious, but they will reject the power that could make them godly. Stay away from people like that! (from New Living Translation)

Thou Shalt not Lie!

The decay isn’t just in sexually related issues either. People seem to be more hate-filled today than forty or fifty years ago. There’s nothing new about stretching the truth to support your argument but it seems now that many today, especially liberal politicians, will stop at nothing to promote their cause. Look at some of the lies we have heard from the likes of Barrack Obama, Hillary Clinton, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Kathleen Sebelius, et al. These people will say anything to cover up a lie, get a bad bill passed or get re-elected. ObamaCare. Benghazi. Internal Revenue targeting conservatives. Need I say more?

Look at how Christians are treated today. In many parts of the world, if you participate in any Christian activities you will be locked up or murdered. In our own country there are efforts to silence Christians, if not eradicate Christianity, entirely. Liberals in Washington D.C. and Hollywood will bend over backwards not to offend Muslims, but Christians are fair game.

In Matthew 24, beginning at verse 4, Jesus told His disciples, “Don’t let anyone mislead you, for many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am the Messiah.’ They will deceive many. And you will hear of wars and threats of wars, but don’t panic. Yes, these things must take place, but the end won’t follow immediately. Nation will go to war against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in many parts of the world. But all this is only the first of the birth pains, with more to come.

“Then you will be arrested, persecuted, and killed. You will be hated all over the world because you are my followers. 10 And many will turn away from me and betray and hate each other. 11 And many false prophets will appear and will deceive many people. 12 Sin will be rampant everywhere, and the love of many will grow cold. 13 But the one who endures to the end will be saved. 14 And the Good News about the Kingdom will be preached throughout the whole world, so that all nations will hear it; and then the end will come.untitled

It’s All in THE Plan

I don’t believe in coincidence. I believe in purpose. All things have been preordained and, therefore, happen for a reason. The reason we are seeing changes as we are, is because God planned it this way. That’s not to say the change is caused by God. No, God gave us, mankind, the free will to decide for ourselves what we think is right and how we should live our lives. In doing so, He knew what the eventual outcome would be and we are seeing that outcome revealed right before our eyes. He told us Jesus would one day return to take His children to a heavenly home and set up His Kingdom. So far, He has kept every promise He has made so there’s no reason to think He won’t keep this one. So take heart believers and beware non-believers because one day soon, perhaps in our lifetime, perhaps not, Jesus will return. If you don’t already know Christ, I’d like to introduce you.

Hating Christianity

12 12 2013
Old Saint Nick

Old Saint Nick

Recently, I looked at the home page of the on-line version of the Herald-Sun and was struck by the contrasting; in fact, contradicting articles which were nearly side-by-side. One featured pictures from the fourth annual Holiday Fun Fest in Durham. The other was a story written by a staff writer reminiscing about Christmases in Durham, conjuring memories of Christmas parades, Christmas trees and Christmas presents-many of the traditions which have now been banned from public venues. How startling the difference!

Bah! Humbug!

The truth is, Durham no longer celebrates Christmas. Why? The answer is simple…hypocrisy.

You see, there are those in this country who simply hate Christianity and would like nothing better than to see it wiped from the face of the earth and the memories of every living being. These, in most cases, are the same folks who preach tolerance. They are the same people who will call you a racist if you voice disagreement over Barack Hussein Obama’s failed policies. They are the same people who will call you homophobic if you offer a modicum of disagreement toward gay marriage. They call you intolerant, yet they are not willing to tolerate the rights of those whose beliefs differ from theirs.

ACLWho?

Hardly a day goes by there’s not a story in the news of someone running to the ACLU to complain that they were offended because the Ten Commandments were posted on the court room wall, or their child’s class at school recited the Pledge of Allegiance during which the children, heaven forbid, uttered the name of God.

Baby Jesus is born

Baby Jesus is born

This is not about someone being offended because they see a religious symbol displayed in a public space. It’s not about a parent taking offense because there’s a Christmas tree on display in the school lobby. My gosh, if you get offended because of something so inconsequential in your life then you probably should be getting professional help. No, this is about intolerance. It’s about hatred. It’s hypocrisy.

The attempts to eradicate Christmas, or more to the point, Christianity, are not new. The only difference between the persecutors of ancient Rome and today’s ACLU is the arena. Today’s arena is the courtroom. Lions have been replaced by manipulating lawyers and the ACLU is fully aware they have deeper pockets than the local school system or municipality, so just the threat of a law suit usually forces their victims to acquiesce.

But wait a minute, what about the ACLU? The ACLU is the self-appointed “..nation’s guardian of liberty, working daily in courts, legislatures and communities to defend and preserve the individual rights and liberties that the Constitution and laws of the United States guarantee everyone in this country.” (https://www.aclu.org/about-aclu-0) Everyone in this country. That means you and me. But where is the ACLU when I want to practice my right to worship outside the church? They’re down at the courthouse getting a cease and desist order. This isn’t protecting rights. This is hypocrisy!

A Misinterpretation of Convenience

The ACLU has conveniently misinterpreted the First Amendment regarding separation of church and state. The First Amendment states, “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.”

Nowhere does the First Amendment state that we cannot display religious symbols on public grounds. Nowhere does it state that we cannot say a prayer at a public gathering such as a high school graduation. It states that Congress shall not make laws that establish religion or get into the religion regulatory business. It further states that Congress shall not prohibit the FREE exercise of religion among the citizenry of this nation.

Yes, there is an attack on Christmas because a number of people hate Christianity and are more aggressively active in their efforts to eradicate it from society than are the silent majority.

But don’t despair. I actually think persecution is good for Christianity. The emperors of Rome tried to kill the movement and look what happened. While he made an impact on the Jewish population, Hitler, in spite of his best efforts, made no negative impact of Judaism. Your 16-year-old daughter is seeing a 25-year-old man who falls far short of your hopes and expectations of a suitor. The worst thing you can do is to tell her how bad he is for her and forbid her to see him. That will only push her toward him.

Merry Christmas to All

Merry Christmas to All!

The Trumpet’s About to Sound!

Like my God or hate Him, that’s your call; but, don’t preach tolerance to me and then practice intolerance because you disagree with me. Don’t trample over my freedom under the guise of protecting the rights of others using your own biased opinion as the benchmark. Trust me when I say a day is coming when the Judge will not be a left-leaning bureaucrat. The signs are all there.

Science and Christianity

25 03 2012

You know what’s truly amazing? An archeologist digs up a 2 inch piece of rock imprinted with a tooth fossil. Two feet away he

Skin Fossil

finds another fossil, this one the size of his hand and appearing to be some type of skin pattern. Now he takes these two fossils into the lab and begins to study them closely. He determines, through carbon dating, the creature, which had a rough pebbled hide, must have lived approximately 225 million years ago-right in the middle of the Triassic period. Two years later he proclaims he has made a discovery of a new species and is written up in all the science journals. The articles include artist’s renderings of a meat-eating creature having four legs, a 2 foot tail, and small but sharp teeth. The creature, he surmises in his writings, was a loner since no evidence of similar creatures has ever been found in the area or elsewhere.  He spends the next two years traveling the world giving speeches about his new discovery-all this based on two fossils small enough to fit into his fanny pack.

Or how about the astronomer who spends hours peering through the observatory telescope studying the heavens and one evening sees something she has never seen before. In fact, no one has ever claimed to have seen this celestial object before. Then, based on a few clues, plus her vast knowledge of space, she excitedly proclaims the discovery of a new planet. Wait a minute; all these learned people told me when I was a kid that there were only 9 planets in our solar system. Now they’re saying they were wrong!

Can’t Trust Technology

All these years I’ve been misled by these brilliant people of science. I lied to my kids affirming their science books were accurate and there were only 9 planets. I stood on my deck looking at Venus and wondering where the other seven (I know where earth is) planets might be found. Somebody should be sued.

So, in their defense, the scientists are quick to point out the advances in technology. We have much better telescopes today, they would tell us. We have much more sophisticated lab equipment for examining and dating the fossil record enabling them to make new discoveries, some of which contradict earlier discoveries based on inferior technology.

So, will the day ever come when we see an interview with some engineer who claims to be a carbon dating expert who has discovered a more accurate dating method and reveals that carbon dating is so inaccurate and unreliable that it will be scrapped in favor of this new method? And will this new technology prove that the earth is not billions of years old as suspected but, in fact, is only about 10 to 12 thousand years old? Do you think the day will ever come when our technological advances prove the big bang theory was just that-a theory from the mind of those who couldn’t force themselves to accept something as irrational as a Creator?

Now, where am I going with this? When these people of science, as school children, read from their text books, there were 9 planets. They, as did the rest of us, believed it to be true. They were awed by the size of the dinosaur skeletons they saw at the museums they visited-skeletons constructed of only a handful of bones, the rest of which were cast from plaster. Later, in college, they studied the writings of Tattersall, Darwin and Sagan and never doubted the validity of the writings of these theorists. So, why is it these learned scientists, who take great pride in their hard-earned education, cannot accept the writings of Scripture? Why will they accept the contrived drawing of a dinosaur based solely on the discovery of a couple of small fossils as fact, yet rebuff the Shroud of Turin or other religious artifacts?

Can Trust His Word!

Paul wasn’t a theorist. He was writing books based on fact. The same is true for other writers of Scripture. They were agents of God, some of them personal friends of Jesus and eyewitnesses to events in His life, divinely inspired in their writings which have not only endured the ages but have revealed the truth in prophecy time and again. Could it be because these brilliant minds do not feel Scripture is based on science? More likely, it is because they don’t want to subscribe to a God-directed life and you cannot be a child of God without giving your life to God and living the life He wants you to live. You cannot find eternal life in heaven unless you put your faith in God, and not in man, and accept Christ as Lord of your life. Perhaps these smart people aren’t so smart after all.
